KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Mayo Volunteer Centre is 1 of * volunteer
centres across Ireland and is affiliated to Volunteer Ireland. We work
with not-for-profit-organisations to develop a wide range of volunteer
roles in the community that are as inclusive as possible. We also work
with people who want to volunteer their time and match them to
volunteer opportunities that suit their needs.
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Events Co-ordinator will coordinate the delivery of once-off and
annually scheduled community events to a high standard with the
support of team members. Stakeholder collaboration and strength in
relationship building is central to this role.
The role will focus on generating a greater number of volunteer roles
and opportunities as part of our Community Volunteers programme. This
programme focuses on once-off or short-term roles that support
community events such as community festivals, parades, concerts,
matches, sporting events, environmental events, or clean-ups etc.
Volunteers can get involved as often or as little as they like, when
it suits their schedule, rather than committing to more regular
volunteering. Community Volunteers are given specific training in
event volunteering and management and other topics as required and are
supported by Mayo Volunteer Centre to ensure that they have a good
volunteering experience.
The EVENTS CO-ORDINATOR will support the Mayo Volunteer Centre team to
deliver the Community Volunteer programme by:
* Identifying organisations that run once-off or a series of events
in Mayo that require a cohort of volunteers;
* Work with these organisations to develop the volunteering roles
for each event;
* Advise the organisations on how to use the Salesforce system to
advertise their roles and set up the shift system if required;
* Promote the volunteer roles locally where the event is taking
place and follow up with volunteers who register their interest;
* Sign up the registered volunteers as Community Volunteers and
inform them about the programme;
* Set up and deliver the relevant training for the volunteers, both
online and face-to-face;
* Monitor events to ensure that the volunteers are assigned and
briefed properly;
* Attend a selection of the events;
* Set up quarterly feedback, recognition, and support sessions for
the volunteers to retain engagement.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND COMPETENCIES
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
* Appropriate 3rd level qualification OR relevant community and
voluntary sector experience;
* Excellent IT and administration skills and a good knowledge of
using Microsoft *;
* Ability to communicate well verbally and in written
communications;
* Ability to network effectively with a variety of people and
organisations;
* Experience of planning and organising events;
* Excellent time management and workload planning skills;
* Capacity to work on own initiative and seek support as required;
* Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team;
* Full clean driving licence and use of own car.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
* Awareness of volunteering and its importance in society and/or
practical volunteering experience;
* Organised, thorough and results driven;
* Experience of managing projects;
* Problem solving and adaptability skills;
* Comfortable with learning new software such as Salesforce;
* Training experience.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
REPORTING TO THE MANAGER OF THE MAYO VOLUNTEER CENTRE:

* Travel to organisations offices and other meeting places as
required across Mayo; travel and subsistence expenses will be paid at
public sector rates
* Paid weekly; weekly timesheet to be completed

* Supervision meeting every 4 weeks to assess performance, give
feedback and provide any necessary support
* A comprehensive induction programme and all necessary training
will be provided
